Silk protein based surgical wound dressing for rapid healing with minimal scar in low to mild exudating, non-infected wounds such as skin graft donor sites, partial thickness burn wounds, surgical wounds, skin ulcers. The dressing is suitably meshed to facilitate easy drainage of exudates to maintain optimal moist environment at the wound site and excess exudates are absorbed into the secondary dressing. Additionally, the unique combination of this non-adherent meshed dressing promotes faster wound healing by promoting fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition.
