Description

Silk protein and silver based anti-microbial surgical wound dressing sheet for low exuding, infected wounds such as partial and full thickness, low exudating wounds including first and second-degree bums, donor and recipient graft sites, surgical sites, venous ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers. The dressing has silver nanoparticles embedded in combination with silk protein to control microbial growth and promote faster wound healing by fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition.

Additionally, the dressing has broad spectrum anti-microbial activity for prolonged time due to the sustained release mechanism of silver ions which effectively controls infection at the wound site, decreases bioburden levels and creates a wound environment conducive to faster healing.
